Accommodations and Removal of Barriers to Access

Persons with Disabilities are entitled to equal treatment including full access to to accommodations and removal of barriers to access in public and private facilities, including retail, commercial, and housing, as well as all benefits and privileges that other able bodied members of the community enjoy.

Ku & Mussman, P.A. is committed to protecting and enforcing its client’s rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and any other appropriate state and federal statutes.

We have successfully prosecuted hundreds of cases throughout the United States and have a great deal of experience protecting the rights of disabled persons, i.e., obtaining accommodations and removal of barriers to access. A sample of our notable results can be found here.

If you are disabled and cannot gain equal access to a facility due to barriers to access, we will bring an action to force the property owners, tenants or operators to remove barriers and make their facility accessible for disabled persons. Please complete our online consultation form or call us today for more information.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 require that all “places of public accommodation” and “public entities” be accessible to disabled persons. Full access for the disabled means that accessible ramps must be provided at main entrances, accessible parking must be level, include access aisles, provide disabled parking signs and must be provided close to an entrance, restrooms must include grab bars and be large enough for a person in a wheelchair, payment counters must be at the appropriate height and signs must include Braille, to name a few. You can read about the hundreds of accessibility regulations at ADA.Gov or follow this link to view the ADA Standards for Accessible Design and other important documents right here. If you have encountered discrimination due to barriers to access, you may have a claim under the ADA.
